“Exit Saigon, Enter Little Saigon" created by the Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Program is the first Smithsonian exhibition to tell the story of the Vietnamese-American experience in America, from the significant influx in 1975 to the present. Dolls of Japan Exhibit Feb 1, 2010, 9:00 AM - 3/31/2010-4:30 PM
"Dolls of Japan: Shapes of Prayer, Embodiments of Love" is an exhibit that celebrates the Japanese culture through this ancient art form. The origin of Japanese dolls began in the Jomon period about 3,000 years BC. This exhibition is an introduction to the present-day artistic world of dolls, with their unsurpassed tradition and deep involvement in the modern life of Japanese people. This traveling exhibit includes 70 Japanese dolls in honor of Iowa’s 50th anniversary as Sister State with Yamanashi Japan. Thanks to the Consul General’s Office of Japan in Chicago and the Japan Foundation for making this wonderful exhibit possible.
